WA:Thousands of homes without power in storm

Thousands of home are without power as storms affect the electricity network in the
Perth metropolitan area and the south-west of Western Australia.

Western Power says more than 12 thousand homes have had power interruptions, as lightning
strikes caused some of the network's safety devices to trip and a small number of power
lines to be brought down.

Lightning has caused a bushfire in Quairading and nearly five thousand homes in Forrestfield
lost power when lightning brought down power lines at the railway freight yard.

And about 15 hundred properties are without power in a wide-ranging area from Jurien
Bay toward Bunbury.
