Fed: PM won't comment on Thomas case
The prime minister says he's standing by his government's tough anti-terror laws ..
but has declined to comment on the JACK THOMAS case.
Mr THOMAS has been a free man since August 18 .. when the Victorian Court of Appeal
quashed his convictions for receiving funds from al-Qaeda and holding a false passport
.. overturning a five-year jail sentence.
This week a terrorist control order has been imposed on him .. restricting him to his
home between midnight and five AM .. requiring him to report to police three days a week
.. and banning him from departing Australia without permission.
He's also been restricted in his choice of phone and internet service providers.
JOHN HOWARD's told ABC Radio .. he won't comment while the THOMAS case is still going
through legal procedures.
But the PM says he has great confidence in the Australian Federal Police .. and he
won't compromise on the government's tough anti-terrorism laws.
