Penzance police are asking people to be careful when using theinternet to choose and buy puppy dogs.

There have been several reports made to the police of people whoare looking to buy dogs through the internet being asked to sendmoney to supposed sellers in India, Cameroon and other farawayplaces, despite the animal supposedly being in Cornwall. After themoney has been sent, there has then been no further contact, no dogand no refund.

A spokesman for Penzance police said: "People should make moreinquiries, use kennel club members, or private sellers where youcan speak to people and see the puppies prior to parting with money. The internet can be used to search to see if other people havereported the method, or seller as being a scam."
